Saw this on a t-shirt, recently and it REALLY spoke to me. I did that for a LOT of years; both before, and throughout much of my EARLY healing process. It seemed every time I made great strides forward, I would "trip" on something from my past, and get stuck there, wallowing, for a bit. Then, my brain would kick in, and I would pick up my forward momentum, again.
I just couldn't get past the FACT that what had happened in my past, while I was still affected by it, was still having the effect of tripping me up so bad - like it was still happening currently, and not in the past.
Once I was able to grasp that, solidly; though not perfectly, life got a little simpler day by day. While not getting caught up in cliches, "there is a reason the front window of a car is so large, and the rear view mirror is so small".
If you're in a Domestic Violence situation, yes, you did chose to be with that person for a reason. But, what happens from this point forward is up to you. Will you continue to "trip over what's behind you"; or make the choices to change your situation.
While life isn't all black and white, there's plenty of that unknown gray. Step out of that gray, and look at those facts to make your decisions. It will not necessarily be the easy route; but the best for you, isn't necessarily always easy. Stay strong.
Thank you, and have a good day, and be safe... #ENDtheSILENCEofVIOLENCE #dviseverywhere #domesticviolence #growin2024 #awareness #protectyourself #besafe
*October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Please share this post, no matter what month it is, to help get the word out. The Victim has to make the choice - but, "What If..." they read something you sent them, and it just "clicks"?
*I would love the opportunity to share YOUR ideas in a Blog post. Please send them to Connie J... - beamererin@yahoo.com; or through Ozer email, ozerministries@att.net.
