I recently returned to work after being off three and a half months. Have been back for a week; and been BUSY, BUSY, BUSY trying to get myself back in the groove, after taking all that time to physically heal.
I just keep reminding myself that the mental healing is as important as that physical healing; and it WILL come back. That's where many people miss that mark. They forget about the mental preparedness that helps us forge through our lives. We tend to get caught up in that "busy, busy, busy". (Btw, every time I say that, I do hear the magician from Frosty...)
In Domestic Violence situations, this busy, busy, busy is usually amplified by the chaos and disruption - which is part of that "narcissistic toolbox", to keep the Victim off-balance, and keep them under control. That's why aiming for inner peace in the middle of that chaos is so important, however difficult.
If this speaks to you, in any way - can you think of any ways to try and quiet that "busy, busy, busy", that I'm sure is just buzzing in your brain? Would be interested in your insight.
