...to be abusive.
I remember one time, a man accidentally clicked the handle on a paint sprayer, spraying white paint dots all over his month-old navy blue station wagon - and my father NEVER
swore.
He called him a heck of an ignoramus (over and over) - which was fair, but that was about it.
However, I often saw him eviscerate my Mother with the words he used, just by his condescending tone of voice;
and again, NEVER swearing.
It's the motivation of control and manipulation, that makes words abusive.
My own personal favorite, is when someone follows up a derogatory remark with, "You know I'm only joking,
right?"; when you take offense to what they said.
My theory is, you do NOT get to tell me if something feels abusive to me, or not - am I right??!
Does any of this ring true with you? What examples of non-swearing
abuse have you been tolerating?
Have a good day, and be safe... #listen #ibelieveyou #doyouhear
*October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Please share this post, no matter. what month it
is, to help get the word out. The Victim has to make the choice - but, "What If..." they read something you sent them, and it just "clicks"?
*I share a "What If..." post on the first Monday, of every month, and I would love the opportunity
to share YOUR "what ifs". Please send your "What If..." ideas to Connie J... - beamererin@yahoo.com; or through Ozer, at the website or email, ozerministries@att.net.
