MY Why... (Connie J...)

"Why is this book (BLOG POST) worth writing? What's the contribution that I'm hoping to make?"

As I have shared, I was raised in a Domestic Violence situation; and it wasn't until after many years in counseling (in my mid to upper 30s), that I made that connection.

I know people that were raised in physically violent situations - but mine wasn't like that. It was more subtle, covert. Though I became more aware of how my Father treated my Mother, as I aged; it still wasn't "violence", persay. "Isn't it that way at everyone's house?"

"What happens in our house, stays in our house." - that was why I always tried to be ANYWHERE else, but home, I guess; but still didn't make that connection.

Now that I know, it is my DAILY commitment to observe, speak up, and weekly write about what I've learned, and continue to learn.

I have no plans to stop. It's too important - though eradicating Domestic Violence most likely will never happen; we MUST continue to do what we can to make change...
