What If... (Connie J...)

...I had only broken it off, after that first time they hit me...

...I had listened to my friend, and gotten a separate phone, not on their plan...

...I could ignore my heart, for a moment, and take myself out of the equation...

...the kids didn't have to see it all...

...my cat hadn't scratched them, that night...

...Domestic Violence wasn't a "thing"...

...I didn't "learn this from my parents"...

...I didn't FEEL so alone...
