The other day, at work, an older "gentleman" (term used a little loosely) whistled for me to come over and help him. I walked over, and said, "Please don't EVER whistle for a woman." He said, "I could call ya what I call my wife." I said, "I am not
your wife, or your dog. Please don't EVER whistle for a woman. Now, how can I help you?"
I said something to someone else (it kind of stayed with me ALL day!!!), and they said, that's what a lot of older men do. I said, "That's part of the problem.
Boys will be boys is so acceptable to so many people."
That is why a lot of our culture is so ready to hold down, and minimize women. I'm not standing on my soapbox, here; but you know I'm speaking the truth.
I posted something,
the other day, about our rape culture. They're so busy teaching women not to get raped; but where are the trainings to teach men not to rape women. (I am well aware men are also sexual assault victims, by the way.)
The recent commercial by a major
razor company has raised a good bit of discussion about this. I read an article that people are up in arms about it, and threatening to boycott them. All I can say, is Wow!!!
The bottom line is, NO ONE should ever have "CONTROL" over another human
being, or think they deserve to. THAT is definitely a major problem.
What are your thoughts on any of these issues? Do you see how they're all connected?
Have a good day, and be safe... #ENDtheSILENCEofVIOLENCE #EtSoV
