October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As this month comes upon us, once again, do you have a story to share?
I have heard many stories, over the years; some from friends and other people I know and see every day. Others
have come from the most random of places.
I carry a baggie of DVA ribbons I've made, in my pocket, at work. I usually have a few pinned on my vest. Part of my job is assisting people, and making pleasant chatter. I try to casually work in that
October is DVA Month.
I get a variety of responses. Some people are VERY uncomfortable at it's mention. Others, mention someone, even themselves, that have dealt with the issue.
I use the opportunity to ask if they would like a
ribbon, or several, to remind people there is help available. I also, now, have business cards, with this website on the back. (The front has my personal website.)
That is how DV Awareness can work. It doesn't have to be a huge event; it can happen
in those small conversations that pop up, more often. No "power play" involved.
I challenge you to help #ENDtheSILENCEofVIOLENCE in YOUR own way, right there where you are...are you up to the challenge?
Thank you, have a good day
and be safe... #EtSoV
