I used to go Dairy Queen to get ice cream, with Family, and always try to order a small chocolate cone. They were buying, and thought I was just trying to be polite, and would encourage me to get a sundae, or something else. I would ALWAYS give in,
and get something else.
It finally sunk in, I didn't want a sundae, or something else; I WANTED A SMALL CHOCOLATE CONE; and was NEVER quite satisfied.
I decided it was time to have a serious conversation with them about how much
I really wanted the cone, and the dilemma I had every time we went.

This is just one path of survival for anyone who has been abused in any way, in any relationship. By ignoring their feelings, and focusing on others, they "make it through"; because this surely is NOT living!!!
I was blown away at how huge this realization became, and the affect it had on my life. To use my own word, it was epiphanous!!!
