This is the theme of our pending 2018 Domestic Violence Awareness Art Show, so it has been on my mind, a LOT. It was brought to the front of my mind, once again, recently.
One form of escape I am all too familiar with is self-harm. It
is a potentially permanent solution, by causing physical pain to give the emotional pain a temporary illusion of relief.
One of the biggest drawbacks with this, is the shame it causes, thereby adding to, and making the emotional turmoil bigger,
in the end.
Some of the possible healthy ways to battle this addiction, are:
- to talk to someone you trust, or a counselor. (Just remember, the person you trust is only looking out for your best interest if they mention it to someone else
to get you help). - journaling, writing poetry, or other artistic expressions are also good
ideas.
Remember, there are many ways to battle this...YOU ARE WORTH THE FIGHT.
Thank you, have a good day, and be safe... #ENDtheSILENCEofVIOLENCE
