#NOMORE The New Year Approaches... (Connie J)

People tend to make New Year's resolutions that are impossible to keep, sometimes. Have you ever made any of those? "I'm going to only eat healthy stuff. I'm going to lose that blasted weight in the next year. I'm not going to swear in the new year. I'm going to quit drinking, or smoking cold-turkey.", etc.

My personal opinion of why they never work, is because they're caving to peer pressure; or because that's what you're "supposed to do" this time of year. The motivation is external.

I've seen this happen in situations of Domestic Violence. they make the big move to leave the situation, but it's not their decision. They're only doing it to make their family members, or friends happy. They KNOW their situation is bad, or even dangerous; but they feel they've done something to deserve it. NO ONE has EVER made a decision bad enough to DESERVE any form of Domestic Violence. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE ABUSED!!!

Many times, people have this knowledge in their head. It makes perfect sense, right??! Unfortunately, THESE thoughts also play in their heads: "If I just didn't do things to make them angry. If I just didn't question why they were late. If I just left them alone when they got home from work. I shouldn't make them angry when they've been drinking." NO ONE DESERVES TO BE ABUSED!!! I know I keep repeating this, but it's a UNIVERSAL TRUTH.

I heard once, the longest 12 inches is from the brain to the heart. You can be the greatest genius in the world; but if you don't have these universal truths in your heart AND your head, you will remain stuck in your situation.

You are worth taking the steps to escape your situation. It's NOT easy. There are more resources becoming available on a regular basis. You just have to keep asking until you get the help YOU need.

My hope for you in this New Year, is if ANY of what I blog about rings true in your heart or mind; that you will reach out for help. You are the only person that can take that first, scary step.

Have a good day, and be safe... #NOMORE #KNOWMORE
